the uncles
Oil on canvas, 18x24 inches
The traditional brick houses, large solid shapes standing steady among everything around them. They remind me of the solid relatives we would visit when I was a kid, so I called this painting “the uncles”. I passed by this spot 6 days a week for 10 years when I owned a frame shop in Hockessin, DE, and I decided to do this painting, which shows the houses on a cold winter morning. I wondered about the people living in the houses and the lives they led.
Framed in a dark wood frame that goes well with the dark shapes in the painting.
