watching the tides
6x8 inches, Oil paint with cold wax on hardwood panel
Walking along a sandy beach you follow the inlet around and you come upon a small overgrown spot that approaches the water. There are grasses, reeds, larger plants, and this one lone scrub tree leaning out to the water. Nature seems to be telling us that we think we’re in charge, but natural habitat is ready to re-claim the shoreline. There is actually some reassurance for us in that, knowing that the order and harmony of the natural world exists all around us.
This spot can be seen on the bay side of Townsend’s Inlet, on the southern end of Sea Isle City, NJ.
Framed in a black wooden frame with an easel-back ready for tabletop display, or it is also ready to be hung on a wall.
